Tell us something.: I play whistles. I sell whistles. This seems just a BIT excessive to the cause. A sentence or two is WAY less than 100 characters.

Scales analogous to the Church modes, or Gregorian chant modes. A theory assigned them the names of the ancient Greek musical modes, for the sake of ethnomusicologists and the like.

I am using the same English as used in this site:
<a href=http://www.geocities.com/novairishsessi ... .htm>Irish Modes and the "D" Tin Whistle.</a> by Jos H. Hindriks. It can be found on the <a href=http://www.geocities.com/novairishsession/>Northern Virginia Irish Session Website</a>
my Darlin.
The only difference is that I have introduced a Lydian from OXX OOO
and a Phrygian from XOO OOO.
This is my unique contribution to the Chiff and Fipple world.

Talasiga,
thanks
I think I have enough to do for a little while.
I have just started now with the D, G and A scale.
Playing them smoothly is for me already a good practice :)

And watch out for a swiss-dood named Amar... he's on holiday in Scotland at the moment but he'll be back...

Paul, I believe some of Eleanor's work is here:

For some strange reason, I was really taken by the picture of the frog...dunno why. And some very nice celtic knotwork too...

Just wait for one hour ore something like that.
Most of the time the website is restored by then.
But do not expect to much from it, I started not very long ago :)

Thanks Talasiga! I'll print that. I always wondered which modes were which.

Here I am again, with another question.

At the moment I am learning simple irish tunes on the tin-whistle.
And my question is, do you know websites with simple irish sheetmusic?
At the moment I am using the sheetmusic on 'Brother Steve's tin-whistle pages'
But some tunes are still a bit to difficult.

Here's one that works for me...

http://www.thesession.org

There are a few others out there, but this offers music in ABC, Sheetmusic, and offers audio samples to aid in hearing how the tunes go.
