Here's a few quick shots of the Patrick Murray set I just received last week. It's all stock with the exception of the polyurethane I used to gloss up and seal the bellows clappers. The bag is vinyl, the bellows I don't know, and the chanter is of course the injection molded resin polymer that Pat used. There are only very small hints of seams visible in a few spots on the sides of the chanter and none of the pits or molding flaws I've heard noted on other sets of Pat's make. The bellows is as airtight as they come and the bag, while not an L&M or MacHarg, still works very well.
For a budget priced set of pipes, I find the workmanship of this set amazing. I've bashed out one working reed for it so far in addition to the reed Pat made. It seems fairly straightforward with no noteable supprises in the tone department. It's quite a bit quieter than my previous chanter and plays much better against session instruments. If only I had this set two years ago!

New they used to run about $550 USD. But Pat isn't making them anymore. I was lucky to find this one used for about $460. I has asked about the keys before too - Pat didn't do them and apparently it's like pulling teeth to ask another maker to add some for you. So unless you're good with metalwork yourself or you're in real tight with a maker, you'd probably be out of luck for keys.

This is my 4-keyed Hunter I bought in ´89. I waited one year for it, which was then said to be extremely long Sorry for the quality. I just bought a camera of my own.

I don't know if I've got the whole thread down, but it never was Bison, it's water buffalo and other African buffalo horn that's used when guy's like Rogge refer to "buffalo." There's Kudu and a load of other horn as well but I wonder if everyone has had some of the same problems I've seen and heard about of it shrinking and cracking and falling loose at rather a notable rate when shipped off to other climes?Uilliam wrote:

I know this is of topic
But does anyone have Ian Mackenzie's (SIMACK) contact address. I here he sells secand hand sets that have been offerd as trade in's. I also herd that a secand hand half set was traded in. Perfect for a beginner that has had experiences with other bellows blown pipes.
I know he checks his other address regularly but I was wondering if anyone has his new one.
