I sat and began to postulate,
whether or not to join this debate,
which I read my curiosity to sate.
But wait! methought, I cannot congregate,
Unless '-ate' words I can create,
And I am suitably articulate?
Thus did I myself expostulate,
For though I am quite literate,
My aged mind's in parlous state:
It frequently will perambulate,
Down alleys blind at such a rate,
I'm left distrait, in a two-and-eight,
(that's Cockney slang for 'in a state').
As wine by age will ameliorate,
Our brains with age will deteriorate,
Nothing can alleviate,
This awful doom, which is our fate.
Again did I procrastinate,
And chuckled at Amar's 'flatulate',
That Swiss-dood is a reprobate,
Glad I am not his room-mate.
So I pondered as I ate,
My plastic lunch on paper plate,
Whether or not Amar's mate,
Would capitulate, accept his fate,
And suffocate.
(He surely won't recuperate,
not from that noxious sublimate?)
Alas. I've failed. I cannot state
A single word that ends in '-ate'.
All those who have, I congratulate.
I did come up with "invertebrate",
But on it's own it sucks and makes no sense,
And would only tend to aggravate.

That's an idea that sounds great! Especially since in a little while I have with my lovely wife a lunch date.NorCalMusician wrote:If this tread bothers you so much then yourself from it you should extricate!!!Steven wrote:Y'know, I'm sick of this. the suffix -ate must more than procreate,
And if I may so much as extrapolate,
peeplj be the one we castrate.
