Freak Accident

Post by Daniel_Bingamon »

Some of my shipments may be delayed a two or days due to a freak accident.

We have these baby chickens and I had the cage open and they were sitting on my arms and hoping around. Well, I'm blind in the left and didn't realize that one of them was getting a little to close to the face and I got pecked in that eye. Nothing severe, but it is painful. I'm washing it out frequently with Eye Wash and a lots of Visine.

I didn't see that one coming.

Dan-- go get it checked out ASAP. Even though you don't have the use of that eye, it can still get infected. Poultry can carry all sorts of bacteria. Please.

Ouch Daniel!

I hope everything is ok. I agree with Paul, You really should get it checked. Chickens are dirty little things even thought they are really cute.

By the way are these chicks for eating or laying? We just ordered 100 chicks. Fifty for eating and fifty for laying.

Cheers,
Kathy :)

The little boogers are for laying. They're too cute to eat, beside I can't eat chicken.

I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow.

Do they lay those little eggs about the size of easter robin's eggs? My dad used to have some smallish chickens of some type. Banty hens?
Anyway, they made the best picked eggs on earth. Just slightly larger than quail eggs.
My opinion is stupid and wrong.

That's them, all small except the rooster. He's a cornish rock and eats everything. We had to put him in a separate cage as he was eating so much that we was developing a hernia.

Oh Daniel, that has to be the most amazing accident I've heard of lately. Do have it checked out though.

Ouch! I've heard (haven't seen it yet) that the Passion of Christ movie has a crow or raven plucking out the savior's eye while he's on the cross suffering. I wonder what it is with some birds and human eyes. The idea for the movie must come from somewhere.

This really caught my attention: I'm a Hospice nurse, and I have an elderly patient that lost an eye this way as a child. He says the initial injury wasn't very bad, but in those pre-antibiotic days infection set in quickly. Please go to the doctor and let us know so I can stop worrying about you! :) Especially mention to the doctor if you have noticed discharge if any kind.

Good news this morning, this Bausch & Lomb Eye Wash and Visine-A together is doing a good job. The redness is down and a the pain has greatly reduced.
