Hello Jessie

I take the information from the seller I just contacted. Can't say anything more.

By the way, thanks for your work on board; it's very instructive for a new player like me

Flute from France on Ebay

Post by David Levine »

Well, the seller's feedback record stinks-- 8 negatives and 6 neutrals out of about 300. He is a dealer of low-level instruments and cases.
The flute on Ebay looks to me to be from Pakistan - hence, worthless. The seller probably knows little about flutes or he wouldn't have said made of ebony when it's probably not ebony. I wouldn't trust him.
If it was a Seery the seller would have said so. This guy is just another Ebay hustler. If anybody still wants to trust him let me know. I can give you a great deal on a bridge.

Regarding the flute being made from ebony, if the seller is from France he would probably refer to a flute made from what we would call "African Blackwood" as being "Ebonie de Mozambique"

Cheers, Mac
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

I know the site's in French, but it says the seller's in Germany.

What do the Germans call ebony and African blackwood?

See why I like using the taxonomic names? :D

Hi Mac

You mean "ébène du Mozambique"? (first time there is an advantage for French people on this board!)

Cheers

To date (24 hours) the seller has not answered my emails questioning the maker and the provenance of this flute.
