A Davy Spillane Low Whistle soon-2004!

Post by Talbert St. Claire »

board members! Davy wanted me inform you that he is marketing his
own line of low whistle's coming soon-April 2004! i'll keep you informed
for those who may be interested in purchasing his whistle! I have a
prototype which is really "FANTASTIC"! -TALBERT :) THANK YOU!
If you discover you have a "perfect" Low Whistle, don't sell it. Trust me, I know! If it's close to perfection, don't sell it. Trust me, I know! If you feel that it's difficult to adjust to but you still feel a deep connection to it, don't sell it. Just give it to me!!!

I've was even e-mailed a price list a couple of years ago when I requested more information... makes me wonder what he'd have sold me back then!

I would be inclined to wait and see what there is to see before jumping to too many conclusions.

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, James... just stating the facts.

Talbert,
How/why did Davy choose you to make such an announcement?
When will he update his website to reflect the news?

Seems we've been here before and much suspicion and cynicism seem to follow the mention of the name on the Board, perhaps due to a lack of dispositive direct information. I met Davey once many years ago when he was promoting his then new CD with an appearance at J&R Music World in Manhattan. We spoke for a few minutes, mostly about Chieftain and Overton whistles as I recall. He was really very nice and quite candid and open; a bit inconsistent with the feel one gets from the threads and the facts given. (Yes, I realize he was in promotional mode at the time).
That said, I agree that it would be both logical and helpful to have the answers Tony asked for.

Best,

I know the history. I understand why the collective wisdom of the board is that these whistles don't exist.

I also know that in recent history, the collective wisdom of the board hasn't had that great a batting average.

No offense to anybody, but I just think it safer to watch from the sidelines on this one.

l hello tony! thanks for the enquiry. why did davy choose me to release
this info. you ask? answer: davy spillane and i have spent quality time
together as well as many converstions on the phone regarding really
many things. however, yesterday i saw a response on the " topic"
post -"newly converted fan". someone posted a comment that had
davy's name attached to it. it read in regards to the overton whistle's
and there quality,"i love them"! i know davy well. he would not have
made such a statement regarding anyone's whistle's! personally, i do
feel overtons are truly good whistles! i play them extensively! but i
respect davy like a teacher and wanted to know if he actually post
this statement(had my suspisions!!) it clearly was not davy's thoughts.
he simply asked me to pls post a reply regarding this. also, to add
that his own line of whistle's will be coming soon! a fair enough request
from someone who has assisted me many times in the past several
years! by the way, i am a very credible source. i refuse to use this
forum as an opportunity to spread lies!!!! i am a serious low whistle
player on top of that. i know a good whistle when i hear one. my
advice to you is to relax your feelings on all this. he will come through
soon enough. hope that helps guys! all the best this yr.-talbert

Can you do me a favour and ask Mr. Spillane how he can come out with a new line of whistles AND offer Mr. Humphrey an overton-style some 3 months ago.

Or do you think he would mind if I asked him?

Something smells rotten
