Larks and Owls

Owl. I was raised on a farm, and the thing I miss the least these days is rising early. There's something fundamentally *wrong* about getting up before sunrise to feed the cattle before you've eaten yourself..

During the work week I grudgingly get up by 7:30 - weekends, I don't get up before 9:00 without a really good reason.

For me going to bed any time before midnight counts as early, and given my drothers I'd make it 1:00 AM or so. Since amateur astronomy is one of my hobbies this works out quite well - still can't remember if it affected my sleep habits or not.

FWIW, wife and kids are also night owls.

I agree...that's why my sheep are all programmed to be fed by torchlight at around midnight and have morning feed at around 10. January lambing is indoors with posh lights on the ceiling for the night run.

Amateur is the word for it as eldest child and spouse have grappled with the telescope this weekend in a vain attempt to find Mars

Here, too, 1am is the norm - hence my ability to socialise with you guys when you get in from work :roll:

Owl here too ... I love the afternoon sun when I wake up, potter around during late afternoon and then the stillness of the night during which my brain churns away most happily and productively. My job requires me to clamber out of bed at 9.30am, which is within the limits of tolerance, but I'd like it to be even later. And I go to sleep 1-2am (would be better 3-4am.)

Does Jamberoo have a website / online info..?

I'm pretty much useless before noon no matter what time I went to bed. I can read or drink coffee, but only speak in monosyllables until mid afternoon. And if (heaven forbid) someone wakes me up before 8:00 am or so, I better be getting a nap later on that day. I'm at my best between 9 pm and 3 am. Luckily, I've always managed to have employment where this could be accomodated.

Owl in the morning and Lark at night.

As Beth can now attest, I'm not really awake before about 10am, even if I'm moving about. At my best between 11am and 11:05am, after which it's a slow slide back into slothful drowsiness.

I'd love to be able to stay up late, but after 11pm my eyes just start to slide shut.

Natural-born owl who keeps trying and trying to become a lark

. I'm most productive between 10 PM and 2 AM. Works for me, but the world around me seems to be larkish, so I keep trying to adapt . . . anyone got any hints about how to make such a thing work?

Lark all the way.Unless of course I find a really good book then I can stay up till 2 or 3 and read but that unfortunately has not happened in a long while as I cant find any really enthralling books to read...Stayed up till midnight watching Two Towers last night and that is late for me..But am always awake at least by 7:30 sharp no matter what. But just because I wake up doesn't necessarily mean Imp out of bed at 7:30.

7:30! LUXURY!!! I think that would barely qualify you as a lapsed lark!
To be a serious lark, I think 6:00, maybe 6:30 at the latest.
My kids don't share my larkism, if sleeping was in the olympics they'd win it for sure.
