What Phil Hardy plays?

Post by Hiro Ringo »

From a video clip in Phil Hardy's web site,I felt I almost wanted to have my low whistle(but I wont because I dont want to suffer from the poor reach of my hands again like piano anymore). The clip name is Phil Hardy/Co Kerry 2001 3.6m.

Could anyone want to let me know what name is the tune? Is that PD tune?If it's PD I want to teach myself the tune.

http://kerrywhistles.com/main.html

p.s.I just didn't want to bother whistle makers only to ask what is the tune. So here is the place to bother someone else instead....

Post by Phil Hardy »

The tune is one I wrote myself ,it's called "The Long Drive Home",it's on the new CD "Whistleworks" along with the tune that goes with it called "Wet the Whistle".The whistle in the clip is my old KerryPro.
All the best
Phil.

Thanks for your reply Phil!
That is my third whistle tune/play I adored.

But as it turned out,I ended up by bothering someone who is the whistle maker himself.....

It seems to me to be more of a compliment than a bother!

Tell us something.: Well, I've been a contributor and visitor to this site since 2001. At one time or another, one of my photographs was the opening page photograph. My teacher was Bill Ochs. I play the Penny Whistle. Not a lot else to say.

To answer the original question:
"What PH plays?"

Well... his whistle, his music and for his mug-shot in his den even his own hair (we checked in Mesquer, it's no wig, no implants :D ).
This way he limits the risk of being accused to capitalize on public domain with a trad tune. Well, safe enough...

So, all in all, the answer is "He plays it safe"
