Anybody on the Board going to June 15th Whistle Workshop??

Post by andreaz54 »

Hi Everyone

Just wondering if anyone on this Board is going to the June 15 Workshop at Lady of the Creek in Gettysburg. I am and I hope to meet some of you there,

I've been playing for 10 months now so I am going to take both the beginners and the advanced classes. Make it a whole day event! I figure if the advanced class is TOO advanced for me I can at least take home something that I can apply later!

Cheers!!

shhhh...rumor has it that Wendy is bringing whistles to sell...you didn't hear it from me....shhhhh.....

I was too much of a hermit and heard about it too late. I would greatly benefit from the synergy but alas not this time.

Perhaps the next one?

Hmm....I'll be there as the hostess, sponsor, and instigator. 'Nuff said.

But I'd also like to hear from people who want other workshops or instructors (or to teach other workshops).

I only do these things 2-3 times a year and I want them to be fun. :D

Keep whistlin'

I really wanted to, but I have to be in New England that weekend. It's probably the last one I could reasonably go to, too, since I'll be moving to MA sometime in July. I hated missing Clarion this year for the same reason -- next year I'll be too far away to go.

I hope I can find similar stuff in MA and CT!

Tell Wendy I haven't forgotten about that non-whistle project I promised her-- just waiting for a little slack time in the shop. :-)

Hi Paul -
I'm saving a space for it - thanks.

We have already double last year's attendance at the workshops. Anybody who wants to sign up, there is still time - just call or email Marguerite to reserve a place. www.ladyofthecreek.com

As well as whistles and whistle folks, there will be dogs and chickens and who knows what else Marguerite is raising there. If you have citronella allergies, I'd stay clear. One of my accordion students is allergic to anything citrus, and was very uncomfortable yesterday - my dog's anti-bark collar sprays citronella.

Are there any astrologers out there? Are the moons of Jupiter in alignment?

Due to a change in plans, I will be FREE! on Sunday and CAN! attend if spots are still available.

Wendy, I will be a-calling you soon!

Holy smokes, a tin-whistle workshop! :boggle:

Lucky Lucky you!

I want to go so bad, but I can't because of a family wedding this weekend and my daughter and son-in-law are coming home for the wedding. We haven't seen them since Christmas so I am excited about that, but I really wanted to go!

You are gonna have so much fun! Take money along because Wendy will be bringing lots of goodies to sell! :o

Think of me while you are all tooting away :)

Cheers,
Kathy :)

The workshop was marvelous. I just got home and played some of my "stale" stand-bys and they sprang to life!

Thanks, Marguerite, for hosting us. The tranquility certainly sets the mood.

Thanks, fellow whistlers, it was great drawing from each other. So nice to put faces to names!

And a special thanks to you, Wendy. It was a true learning experience, particularly picking up tips from such a wonderful musician. Well worth it.

Yer welcome, Chris, and thanks for the kind words.

I love it when a workshop turns out as well as this one did. I'm also thankful Wendy put a name to "pedal tones," which I have always just called "the jumpy bits."

What I really realized is that I don't practice nearly enough

Andrea Z got the prize for traveling the farthest (Niagara Falls to Gettysburg) with the prettiest whistles (the entire Elfsong inventory, as near as I can tell). I enjoyed chatting with her and her husband Saturday night when they made a test drive to make sure they could find the place.

I want to thank Wendy, too, for sharing her talent, skills, and experience.

Now...what workshop to try next...? :D
