Re: Walden
It has been a long time since I last visited here, much less posted, but it only seemed fitting to come back to say goodbye to the rather extraordinary person that I came to know through this place. Rest well, Aaron. Thank you for all the times you shared your poetry and thoughts with me, and with others. You touched a lot of souls and your own soul will be greatly missed. Rest well.

Re: Walden
I can remember no misstep of kindness from Aaron, no misstep of judgment, only brightness, quick wit, and few (but perfect) words. Somewhere along the way, in some imaginary narrative we were spinning one night in the chatroom, Aaron became my son, and from that time—probably 10 years ago now—he called me Mother. Here's what was in my inbox on St. Patrick's Day: "Hi, Mom. I couldn't help but think of my dear saintly Mother on St. Paddy's Day, and thought I'd drop ye a line." I cherished that fiction and did feel a motherly tenderness toward him. I'm sure Aaron managed to build a special relationship with everyone he knew as he generously shared his music, poetry, and handmade art. My husband John (Wombat on the board) also had a lovely relationship with him and will miss his unique spirit. As others have pointed out, Aaron's faith was a fountain for him, and John and I hope that the faith of his family and friends in Oklahoma will help carry them through the sadness of their loss. We can only imagine how they will miss him.

Re: Walden
Restating what others have said here. He will be missed.
Maybe we should put together a music album in his memory.
Cheers,
Beeb

Re: Walden
It was no great surprise at this point, but I was very much saddened to hear of Walden's passing. Here's wishing peace to those he leaves behind.

Re: Walden
Dale has said it all far better than I could.
"Walden" always remained calm, kind and considerate, a worthy witness to his beliefs, always ready to help where he could.

Re: Walden
To hear this news makes me sad. Walden held a very special place on Chiff & Fipple. Reading the tributes here, and especially Dale's, made me think what legacy I left behind when I successfully completed my twelve-step program to quit the chiffboard. Certainly not a legacy of unmitigated kindness, wonder, and warmth. Or even reasonableness. Walden was the better man.
Walden wrote:Taffeta, taffeta, oh what a textile,
I could wear taffeta even in exile!
It surely beats muslin and broad polyester,
But doesn't beat gauze, when you've got a jolly fester.

Oh, I'm so glad you posted that little poem. That's just a perfect reminder of Walden's gifts.

Re: Walden
Goodbye Walden.
I have tears for this.
We are mostly clockwork. But Walden proves that we can be more.
If there is immortality - it is there - in that extra bit.
What a gift?
Thank you my friend.

Re: Walden
I can't describe how sad I am to read of Walden's passing. Dale, for what it's worth, your most eloquent post really sums things up. He was a really great guy, a unique and sweet, kind soul. Whenever I think about this place I always find myself wondering about the people here and always, Walden comes to mind... He will be missed and the world is a sadder place without him.

Requiescat in pace, Walden. I'm sorry for the loss of your family, and your friends.
