Happiness seems to bland or something. I can't measure it on a scale of 'happiness'. I get insanely manic or forlon and depressed. Nothing like 'happy' in between usually.

Pipe band!

Post by fluter_d »

Well, I'm happy 'cause I've discovered a group of people who are absolutely crazy and (as we say here) sound (meaning really, genuinely, nice)- almost all are members of a pipe band! Having spent 10 days in close proximity to them in the US (this ended a week ago), the first trip reunion is taking place next weekend - yay! Am all excited and happy!

I make very cool whistles!
Stacey taught me how to make them cooler!
And so did BrewerPaul and a bunch of other nice people!
Best of all, I love doing it!

I like this thread! It's like "The Bright Side of Life" that a radio station I listen to (a little Chicago station called WGN) has on Friday afternoons - people call in with their little bits of happiness while the song of the same name plays in the background - everybody whistle!

So what am I happy about.... Today at work for lunch was homemade apple crisp a la mode - not exactly on my diet but who cares! :D My apartment is the cleanest it's been in a while. My cat loves me, even after I clipped her nails the other day. The crocus are starting to bloom. I got my tax refund. My headache I've had all day is finally going away. Jesus loves me. I guess that's enough for now....

This thread makes me happy. :)

And everything Sara Sunnywindo said.

The waltz running through my head today (the one I just learned this weekend on hammered dulcimer), and thoughts of getting my viola-playing friend to play it with me when she comes back to town in a week or two, makes me happy. [It's "Caspian Lake", written by Ken Kolodner, played as a lovely HD/viola duet with Laura Risk on the CD "Walking Stones".]

Having successfully skiied 3 km with my daughter yesterday, while dressed as the "SKIster Bunnies", handing out chocolate eggs, in a fun "race" to support our local Center for Violence-Free Living, makes me happy.

The brilliant sunshine and long daylight hours of late March make me happy.

The fact that, due to small amounts of daily practice, my fingers are much less uncoordinated on the whistle than they were 3 months ago, makes me happy.

Most of all, having a life filled with love and music makes me happy. :)

Reenactment season starts April 26 with a four mile march thru the mud!! Probably with some rain thrown in, too.

Whistles, fifes and flutes! Going south for a gig on Sat and just HAFTA stop to test drive whistles in Seattle.

Yeeeeee-haaaaaaa!!

1) Came into work this morning to find a can of Vanilla Coke on my desk! Several weeks before the official UK release, a colleague saw them in stock in a shop (plus cherry 7-up, which I've never heard of), and brought it in for me!

2) Plus, I have a pair of Robins nesting in my garden. Yesterday the male sat on a tree and sang for me while I took the washing in.

3) John Allison grows dancing bananas. Some of them wear kilts.

Since this thread is going so well...I've got a challenge for everyone:
Lets all try to list 5 things each day that make us happy.

I'll go first:

On the way into work this morning I saw wild turkeys and some deer.

Listened to my favorite Flute player on the way in

Last night I practiced for almost 2 hours

today I go on a music search after work

Got a great cup of coffee!
