My "wee C" set is by Richard Patkos. It is a really nice chanter. The keywork is good. One thing is that I can't reach the "long f" wih my pinky. So I have to curl my right first finger around it making the action more like using a ring f. It works just fine but a ring f might have suited me better.

I have for a long time thought a flute with a dark body but boxwood head would look great and remind one of the old ivory headed Meyer flutes.
I now see it looks great on chanters as well.
It sort of flows , making one view the top as an extension of the top mount. It is broken up enough by the brass though. Just a nice unusual look.

Havent had the pleasure of meeting one of your chanters, a pal has an early set of c drones from you Ive seen up close.

All the best,
Patrick

Thanks again Patrick.

I have for a long time thought a flute with a dark body but boxwood head would look great and remind one of the old ivory headed Meyer flutes.
There was a pipe maker from Wexford, the late Tom White, who used to make blackwood flutes with boxwood headjoints too.
It is broken up enough by the brass though.
I might use silver metal work the next time just to see how it looks. I like the look of the brass but as it develops a patina it may blend into the boxwood too much. Time will tell.
My "wee C" set is by Richard Patkos. It is a really nice chanter.
Richard makes very nice stuff indeed!

Here's the newest creation from my shop. It's a full set, pitched in D. The timber is Australian Purple Gidgee with English Boxwood mounts. The ferrules are hand tapered and/or hand rolled brass. Wooden chanter to..ready for a stop key

The set is for sale. I'm just putting some finishing touches on a new set of bellows for the set and it will be ready to go.

Here's a few pics...oh yeah, case included.

A few pictures of my Rogge Halfset in D. The drones were attached a few days ago.
Materials are ebony, boxwood and brass. The chanter is a narrow bore D.

Some photos of a D set by Michael Hubbert. Have had them a few months now and am over the moon with them. Not overly loud, rich tone, well reeded, reliable, and workmanship like I haven't seen before. Exceptional!

A modified Penny Chanter. The plastic mounts have been replaced with wooden ones. The timber is Quebracho Colorado (which translates as "Red Axebraker"). Despite the fearsome name it seems to turn well. SG is about 1.2.
The brass chanter top has become a simulated wooden one with some slide-on plastic tubing.

I'm not a professional photographer, so I can't do these justice. In person, this chanter is a wonder to behold!

Tim and Stephanie Benson D Chanter. Ebony and Brass, with Yew mounts (Tim's first venture with it...I'd expect to see more Yew coming out from them in the future, because it...is...gorgeous!)

My new Q&K D chanter in castella boxwood with true box trim. Made to match my C set ("The Odd Blonde"). No, not left-handed; as with the C set, I asked for the F nat. key block on the other side so it doesn't get in the way of the RH 2nd and 3rd fingers, and indeed it doesn't.
Powerful little beast, this one, with tone to spare, all with a very easy reed. How does BK do that?
