Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Ah. A similar discussion has occurred over on the session.org.

I'm much more taken with what Galadriel is holding.

The actor who plays Bofur is (north) Irish. For whatever that's worth.

The shape of the mouthpiece resembles very much a Shaw; and, as far as I can see it in that dull illumination, it seems to be conical. Maybe Dave does some extra fancy engravings for his customers from Middle-earth; not so much my taste though.

It looks exactly like a Hohner to me. Apart from the embossing, it looks exactly like the old Hohner whistle that I have, in any case.

+1, I have a Hohner that looks just like it (except it has a Matchetts of Belfast sticker on it instead of pseudo-celtic knotwork).
