- Tell us something.: I've been making whistles since 2010 in my tiny workshop at my home. I've been playing whistle since teenage times.

Christel, please allow me a comment about the sound quality of the recording: there are lots of distortions in the sound, which makes listening a rather painful experience. I don't know what recording equipment you got (are you recording straight with a laptop perhaps, without external microphone?), but it would be good to try to make clean undistorted recordings. I also noted you saved the recording as a wav file. Wav files are much bigger in file size than mp3 files. You could save it as a mp3 file to speed up downloads.

Yes, it's severe overmodulation and flat-top distortion, with all the peaks clipped at 0 dB. All the sound clips suffer from the same problem.hans wrote:Christel, please allow me a comment about the sound quality of the recording: there are lots of distortions in the sound, which makes listening a rather painful experience.

Which instrument is it played on? I like the tune, but agree with the comments about the quality of the recording. It sounds a bit over-blown to me, but maybe that's down to the quality of the recording as well.

Re: New tune on the tin whistle blog
Well, we moved our music recording studio from Brooklyn to our new apartment in Queens and we are still working out the kinks with the rig. My husband and I have busy gig and rehearsal schedules, children, and life make it easier for me to record the tunes on the laptop until we have it all completed.

The tunes are recorded on an integrated mic presently until we have our studio finished. This blog is to share tunes that present themselves nicely on the tin whistle. So, what do you think about the tune?

Even so, I'm sure with a bit of experimentation it should be possible to produce much better recordings with the integrated mic, or perhaps using a cheap set of headphones with a mic. Perhaps you could try varying how far to stand away from the mic and so on - I think it would be worth it, particularly if the studio isn't going to be ready soon.christelrice wrote:The tunes are recorded on an integrated mic presently until we have our studio finished....

So what's your rate? I will need a babysitter too. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. We will have all kinks worked out in due time.
It's a Jerry Freeman Bluebird whistle

Nice piece.
It doesn't sound like a D whistle, is it in Bb?

No not Bb, the F# note is the strongest note that I can hear.
I did not hear a C# but I heard a C so its in G major?
Reminds me of Lord of the rings. It feels like Frodo is playing and running in the fields with Sam.
