Ah! This is the life!
Everything done (just about), alone in the house, nice peace and quiet, giblet stew steaming in the bowl for my second helping, Hairspray on the telly.
Mmmm ... what could be better?!!

Re: Ah! This is the life!
Depends on whether you're watching the original or the movie based on the play based on the movie. If the latter, what could possibly be better would be watching the former.
I'm enjoying myself, too. I did my first foray into vegan baking (for a neighbor), which turned out pretty well. I turned some wood, and in an hour, I'll be starting this evening's meal -- paella with shrimp and chorizo. My in-laws are visiting; we all really enjoy our time with them.
I agree with you, this is the life.

I agree with you, this is the life.

You are, of course, right, chas. I loved the original. This is the remake. I've never seen it before. But I'm lovin' it jest the same.

Well, the original Hairspray has a bit more of that special John Waters subversive quality, but the new one is worthwhile.
We're just hangin' out tonight. No serious agenda except in that I need to stuff the stockings well before anyone else has gone to bed, because that's how it is these days.

Completely agree. Plus, of course, the earlier one did have Divine. That made a difference.emmline wrote:Well, the original Hairspray has a bit more of that special John Waters subversive quality, but the new one is worthwhile.

Later on, we're going to watch Priscilla Queen Of The Desert (which none of us has ever seen) and eat take-out Chinese food. Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra!

Watch out for Terence Stamp's big line: "Now you're f****d!".

No, no Denny. Mama-san is Japanese. Chinese food doesn't cover that territory.Denny wrote: Chinese food covers a lot of territory...

It's a long story, Denny, and it has mainly to do with American GIs in post-WWII East Asia. But I bet you knew that.Denny wrote: what about the Koreans running the sushi place?

The movie was a hoot. 3 drag queens (well, two drag queens and a transsexual) traveling through the Australian outback in a pink bus.benhall.1 wrote:I don't think I've seen that either. Beneath all that, the movie has a lot of heart. Give it a look-see.
