My Howard concert pitch set of pipes

Post by Peter Likestone »

It can be seen on this link.
Ebony and nickel plated brass.
Keys are pin mounted.
Short bass regulator.
It sounds great.

Tell us something.: I am interested in the uilleann pipes and their typical -and broader- use. I have been composing and arranging for the instrument lately. I enjoy unusual harmonic combinations on the pipes. I use the pipes to play music of other cultures.

Please explain the double-backed section visible in the underside shots. Is this a drone? Where is the terminus for this?

Tell us something.: I’m changing my location to my actual address. My previous location was a reference to Joyce’s Finnegans Wake.

You can see a picture that better shows the answer to your question here:

It's a tuning slide of the bass drone that goes back into the main stock and terminates in the bass drone that you see on the set.

The non-beating drones is a strange development, apart from seemingly to defying the laws of acoustics ,beating drones is a useful aid to get your drones spot on in tune.

The chanter and the drones were made in 2000. The tenor and the medium regs were made in 2007. I added the bass regulator in march 2011. Brian made some adjustments on the chanter when I went to collect my bass reg.
