Tell us something.: Been a fluter, citternist, and uilleann piper; committed now to the way of the harp.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Thank you. Gotta learn that. I've heard it before, so it's probably a standard, but I never knew the name.

She's a fantastic player. She also plays the last tune (The Fairy Dance) on her album. Lovely version of an old tune.

The Fairy Reel.
Or, more precisely, Largo's Fairy Dance by Nathaniel Gow (best-known son of Niel).

My top 3 favourite flute players are

1. Mike McGoldrick on flute
2. Mike McGoldrick on low whistle
3. Mike McGoldrick on uilleann pipes

If I could have a fourth it would be Mike McGoldrick on back-up vocals.

Do you ever listen to anyone else? I think it limits your mind (or ears) to have only one favourite. There are so many amazing flute players that are really worth listening and studying.

This might be a Spartacus thing:

Kevin Crawford: "I'm Mike McGoldrick!"
Matt Molloy: "I'm Mike McGoldrick!"
Jean-Michel Veillon: "Mike McGoldrick, c'est moi !"

Dr. Mierzwiak: Well, technically speaking, the procedure is brain damage.

I was thinking the same thing, but you put it a lot better than I could have. So I'll just agree with this.

McGoldrick was the gateway drug to my current Irish Music addiction, but... yeah... there are other artists out there. I wonder who Mr. McGoldrick would put in his top 3?

Grab the current "Wooden Flute Obsession CD's.. Vol I, II, and III" (http://www.worldtrad.org/)and get some exposure. I've only been listening to these in the background at work or in the car.. .but I've heard a lot of great tunes and great players... I'll pick out my favorites when I have time.

You should also check out some of the favorites others have listed here.. I am looking forward to doing so when time permits.

Here's a clip for ya. It's long, but well worth it. Make sure you stay long enough to hear "The Gravel Walk."
