My new goldie low F + a little waltz
Got a low F from Colin about a month ago, been playing and loving it ever since!
Recorded a tune using my uncle's old piano and my new fabolous low f. I struggled a bit with keeping in time since the original piano track I recorded wasnt too good. I think it turned out ok though, and I hope you'll enjoy it!
I dedicated this one to my dear Elise!

Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free

I really liked that one and I watched several others on your you tube page. The Goldie whistle looks beautiful. It was also interesting to hear you playing the Susato G and the Gen Bb. Do you think the Goldie is that much better?krabben wrote:Got a low F from Colin about a month ago, been playing and loving it ever since!

Thanks. I think susato are good whistles, very much in tune. However they need to be played very delicately, and their tone doesn't appeal to me very much. Goldies whistles are much more versatile and can be played both softly, and also be pushed high. Doesn't seem fair to compare them though, since they're two very different price ranges. My goldie low F is by fair my favorite whistle so far.I really liked that one and I watched several others on your you tube page. The Goldie whistle looks beautiful. I'm also curious why you got an F instead of a D? You seem to have the piper's grip down pretty well. Do you prefer that key?krabben wrote: Thanks. I already had an overton low D made by colin. I posted a clip playing it some time ago. Here it is:I'm also curious why you got an F instead of a D? You seem to have the piper's grip down pretty well. Do you prefer that key?

I decided to get the low F after listening to a couple of Brian Finnegan's recordings where he uses a goldie low F. Also I've found I do prefer low whistles in the range just above low D. When playing tunes in D, G etc I mostly use my forbes delirin flute.

Also, a lot of whistlers find low F to be a sort of magical key. The combination of size, range, timbre - several reasons.

I think that I am lost over here in the whistle forum, but Krabben also plays a low flute as well as a whistle. Some people have a lot of talent.

Yes, very nice sound and playing! You don't hear much piano and low whistle, but they go well together. But then I think low whistle sounds good with many instruments in duets. Simplicity has its rewards.
I liked the waltz a lot too-it has a lot of feeling in it, thank you for that Krabben!

This kid is impressive. By the way, who makes that flute? Sounds great.Doug_Tipple wrote:I think that I am lost over here in the whistle forum, but Krabben also plays a low flute as well as a whistle. Some people have a lot of talent.
