On Injured Reserve....what to do?
Oy. I cut my left index finger pretty badly yesterday!
I guess I can use this time out to research five-fingered tunes?
Or learn the Tabor pipes?
Sit in front of the You Tube??
Any other silver linings you-all can think of would be helpful!

Re: On Injured Reserve....what to do?
Not medical advice ... But if you've ever cut your left fingertip to bits 10 minutes before a guitar gig and really wanted to know what it's like to play through the pain ... it works.
Or play with your middle joints.
Or this is a perfect time to practice the Whistle Capo technique, which puts your top finger into hibernation anyway.

Overtone flute. Only one hole - on the bell end. It's a voyage of discovery working out which ITM tunes you can play on one.
You can start with "Valley of Silence" and "Peg Ryan's Polka" though.

Tape over the top hole and keep playing, if possible.

- Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Re: On Injured Reserve....what to do?
Turn a whistle into a tabor pipe by covering the top three holes with tape. Ignore the low octave notes. Start with the second octave and by removing one finger at a time, play D,E,F#,G. Now the cool part: overblow even more. Put down the right hand fingers again and removing them one at a time play A,B,C#,D.
