A petition in 2007 to make St. David's Day a bank holiday was rejected by office of the then British Prime Minister, Tony Blair. (Wikipedia)
Perhaps we should try again - there should be a much better chance of success with the current guy.

Tell us something.: I'm a fiddler and, latterly, a fluter. I love the flute. I wish I'd always played it. I love the whistle as well. I'm blessed in having really lovely instruments for all of my musical interests.

Pedant alert: it's "iechyd da" and is pronounced with a distinct "e" sound as in the "e" in bed. (Almost.)

Sam Llewllyn... Say. Wasn't he Frodo's pal?

Happy Saint David's Day!

(Ought to be an auspicious day for me in spite of my indifferent theological upbringing)

Damn! Missed an 'e' out of his name. I assure you he does live just up the road from me. Would you like me to go and get him?

Seriously though, he was born in Scilly, moved all over the place and now lives in Herefordshire. Well, he did last time I checked.

It's still a good Welsh name ...

[And the other Sam is a Gamgee.]
