Has anyone on the board ever have a go at writing a tune. I was thinking we should all have a go at writing a two part jig .How hard could it be.We could call it the “Chiff & fipple jig” only because A jig would probably be the easiest.
All we need to do is for people to offer three notes at a time and then we need someone who knows loads of tunes(not me)(so not to copy some old tune)to be the judge and pick the three he or she thinks would be best. First thing is for someone to volunteer to be the judge, and then I’ll start by saying the jig starts with a D cran. Post your suggestion for the next three notes and when we have a judge he/she will pick the most suitable.
RORY
PS any takers for the judge.
PPS the judge will not be allowed put forward suggestions for notes
PPPS just think of the buzz we'll get when Paddy Keenan puts it on his next album.

I think this could be very interesting. Either a study of stellar colaboration between people, or a study in complete mediocracy and other such fun things. I think I'll pass on taking part, but I will follow this and hope for the best.
As for your introductory question, yes, I have tried my hand at composing tunes. I wrote a jig a few months back. Let's just say that I haven't played it since then. It started off kind of good, but quickly went into all the standard phrases (if there are any non-standard phrases left in this world) when inspiration had evaporated and, much like The King himself, left the building.
