Woohoo New Flute!!!

So excited! I finally got around to getting a new flute, an 8-key Reviol in bloodwood with silver keys. I can’t wait to try this baby out! To make this post somewhat legitimate, let’s see your reviols and open this up to discussion about them.

Reviols are great. I tried one of Maurice’s cast bore ones down in Nelson during our Irish music winter school. His key work looks unique but they’re very smooth and I like his placement of the G# key ad it seems to work better coming down than at at angle…maybe it’s just practice? He put keys on my other non wooden flute and that’s the one I’m finding that I’m using more.

Not only that…he makes a mean low whistle too. I’ve got a low F.

Maurice has made keyes for my first flute a Martin Doyle. I don’t know anything about his flutes but I do know that he is a great craftsman !
