Whistle CD's

I’m looking for some awesome solo whistle CD’s. That is, not CD’s of bands that just so happen to have a guy playing whistle in it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

C’mon moderator dudes and dudettes, I’m begging you, can we please get a sticky CD recommendation thread? Pleeeeaase?

Loren

Heh, I figured this would be a question asked ad nauseum. I searched the fourm, but there are simply so many threads to sort through that pertain to CD’s it’s difficult to find one that actually answers my question.

Feel free to just point me to another thread if you know of one.

Nah, man, you’ve got it right, which is why I’m begging for the sticky this time.

Feadog Stan 1 & 2 by Mary Bergin

Tin Whistles - Paddy Moloney & Sean Potts
When The Party’s Over - Brian Finnegan (some whistle, some flute)
One At A Time - John Skelton (some whistle, some flute, some other)

Tobar an Dúchais by Bríd O’Donohue.

“The Sligo Maid” by Carmel Gunning.

Kevin Krell

Wired and Fused by Michael McGoldrick. Yes, mostly flute but there’s no reason why you can’t play along with him on the whistle

Joanie Madden, Song of the Irish Whistle – volume I & II
Phil Hardy Low Whistle – a little different but great playing.
Joe McKenna The Irish Low Whistle
Grey Larsen & Paddy League, the green house
Phil Brown, Pendle Moon

Lawrence Nugent — The Windy Gap and anything else you can find of his.
Brendan Ring — Troublesome Things
Dermot Hyde and Tom Hake — Pipeline
Sean Ryan — Siuil Uait

Hyde and Ring also play pipes and Nugent flute but you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you let that get in the way.[/i]

“Whistle Stop” by Brian Hughes is one of my favorites.

I read about it in this “Top Whistle CD” thread:

You can listen to clips here:

I think I read somewhere that Whistle Stop is now out of print, but I recently bought it from Tayberry.com.

Not quite my taste but this guy seems to fit your description:

(I agree with Loren).

Excellent. Thank you!

Two thumbs up on Joanie Madden, Song of the Irish Whistle I & II!!
