What I'm TRYING to Have for Dinner

I found that Spaghetti alla Carbonara is not at its best with thyme in it, but it’ll do. My cat, on the other hand, seems to think otherwise and is climbing all over me hoping for a treat. It’s not easy to dine with one’s cat intently inspecting the results as closely as possible.

I made shrimp and grits for my family, and it was wonderful.

And did your cat(s) approve?

My kitty moved in with my dad a while back, so he didn’t get to experience it. :frowning:

Poor kitty. How did you season the shrimp?

I sauteed em in the grease from the bacon with parsley and green onions and garlic.

Oh. Ohhhh. Ohhhhohohohohohhhh. That was inspired.

Sounds like a bacon grease kind of evening all around.

Well, just make up a little plate of it for her. I’m sure she won’t bother you then.

I had pizza for dinner..

But for breakfast, I made poached eggs, on toast with melted smoked fontina cheese topped with hollandaise sauce, and a dash of smoked paprika.

It wasn’t half bad

Is anybody gonna tell Nani he’s using catnip for thyme??

Meself, I had leftover venison marsala. A sorta Bambi Bourginon…

For breakfast I had macaroni and orange #20. Tonight, I had left over macaroni and…

Kraft Dinner, eh?

Yup, that’s exactly the one.

Orange #20. Priceless.

Geez, it’s a good thing I just had breakfast – the shrimp and grits sounds wonderful.

The tastiest meal of the last few days was grilled salmon marinated in lemon juice and dill we’d just picked. On the side was my own creation loosely based on colcannon. Mashed potatoes with fresh-picked greens (I think it was kale) and bacon. I sweat the kale in the bacon grease, mix the whole thing into the mashpoes and crumble the bacon into them.

I’ll be right over. DO NOT start without me!

God bless Dixie!

My dinner last night (at about 10 PM) was steak, eggs, hash browns and toast at the truck stop. Hiking 7 miles in the mountains after work makes me hungry.

I’ll be perfectly honest: the food is the only reason I’m still here.

Now I do have to say that’s one nice thing about being a vegetarian. The cat is no longer interested in your food.

The dog, on the other hand… My dog used to think that Morninstar Farms Breakfast Links were the best thing on the planet. The cat, however, looks at you as if you’re trying to poison him if you even THINK about offering him one!
