I have a tipple D flute that I would like to trade. It is a white PVC, three piece, six hole flute with the dimpled bore It playes nice, but I’m looking to try a different instrument. I am looking for either a nice low D whistle, or a casey burns folk flute. I realise that there may be some price differences, and I am willing to add add money in addition to the flute. Thanks everyone for looking.
The speckled bore flutes by Doug are really good flutes, especially if you have the wedge (which you can always buy if you don’t have it).
It is also a “limited run” since Doug only has a small supply, like he had with the dimpled bore flutes. I am really pleased with mine, that’s all I can say, besides I’m not selling mine!
EditThe dimpled bores are excellent flutes too! Of course, it’s kind of hard not to get a really good flute from Doug! And as noted below, it doesn’t need the wedge for intonation correction in the upper register. But it might still enhance the tone. With the wedge, it would probably play a little sharp in the 2nd octave though.
Correction. This flute is the dimpled bore, not the speckeled bore. It does not have the wedge, but has correct intonation in both all across its register.
