Just check this out, I cannot warn you enough:
Call George W, I think you’ve found some WMDs!
Whatever makes people happy…
Cool!
I’ve seen and heard these:
http://www.vonhuene.com/paetzold_square.cfm
They sound terrific. BTW, their price is most definitely NOT $0.00, contrary to what the web page says.
Loren, will VH make good on this misprint ?
ABOMINATION!!! That has got to be one of the most hideous things I have ever seen! Couldn’t they have at least made it round?
A bit like playing a hat rack.
I cab see it now: one of our whistle smiths will make a “contra-low D” whistle from culvert pipe. Plays so low only elephants can hear it. The base will be a pickup truck.
How do you get them in your back pocket??.
I wonder why these things aren’t played standing up. It seems like more work to sit down and blow up.
Good luck on that Paul. Nick has been known to give people some unusually good deals, but even he won’t go that far, I don’t think. They’ve been “upgrading” their website for nearly 3 years now, although the current “pricing” is relatively new. I expect it’ll be another year or two before the they have the website sorted out
With regards to Bass Recorders, we made round one’s at VH, of course, and Paul, you should see the Reamers for those suckers! They’re so big they look something used for street construction…or more likely destruction.

Excellent! Musical Bedposts!

My friends, our only hope is in MAD (mutually assured destruction).
This must be the recorderzilla
I want one.
Actually, I really do! I was lucky enough to play a great bass in college and it was tremendously fun. Too bad low recorders are waaaay too quiet for a session.
How are they used if they are that quiet? Are they just meant for small chamber ensembles or something?
There’s a bass recorder in the window of a little music shop I go to that I have to admit I really kind of want. The whole square thing with those looks pretty ugly though.
Nope, this is Recorderzilla:
Aaahh!! Tripod!
Here let’s try this:
Loren
I saw that like 5 or 6 years ago..i think it was a pear tree she made that out of.

Sure!
But where’s the bowl - and what do you light it with?
I knew I’d remembered the maker…here’s her site, which has more photos of the huge freaking recorder.

There’s a picture of Friedirch Von Huene in there, of interest probably only to Loren
