After a long wait, my turn for the McGee Roving Ambassador Flute has finally come - the flute arrived today. I don’t have time to write much at the moment, but I will say this: It’s a fabulous instrument and very easy to play. Will write more when I have the time.

P.S. Nice as it is, don’t expect to see me trading my Olwell in any time soon…

Cool! It’s a very nice playing flute. Now that it has made the rounds, does it still smell freshly-turned of blackwood. I loved that as I played it.
Loren, remember we discussed many moons ago about flute finishing–or the craftsmanship quality? So…what do you think of this one?

Nope, it doesn’t smell of Blackwood now, only petroleum products, since it’s been getting oiled with store bought bore oil.
As for the finishing/craftsmanship issue…Well, at this point I think it’s not fair for me to really say: Most of the other top maker flutes I’ve laid my hands on were either brand new, or one owner instruments - certainly none of them had been through as many hands, or as many climate changes, as this instrument, and it’s a wonder this McGee is in as good a condition as it is, all things considered.
I can certainly say that Terry makes a wonderful flute - it plays very easily and sounds quite nice.
Perhaps I’ll post other thoghts later on, but that’s all i have time for right now.
i provided a case for the flute way back when I was handling the RAF for Terry. (I can’t get cases anymore, though)
Is it still intact, or finally fell apart?
I’m curious.
