Ahhhhhhh, nothing in the world is better than opening up a parcel with a set of pipes in it
MORE PLEASE!!!
Sorry, I’m having a time getting the bubble wrap off these pipes! Finally got some of the wood exposed. I think it’s going to be beautiful! Key of C.
Hi Lorenzo
It will sound even better than it looks.

Whoops… wet 'em…
Ah, the miracle of birth.
There, finally got the bellows free. Finally, it can breath. Nice match, although different maker.
I hear you lost some serious drool over them a few years ago.

You are not wrong Lorenzo, you will be hard pushed to find a nicer sounding set.

Here’s set put together. Box, horn, and brass–not a bad combination. Never thought I’d like horn, but it’s nicely contrasted with the boxwood.

I got this Rogge 3/4 set going last night. I’m liking the key of C, I think it’s just right. The box chanter sounds sweet, mellow, yet having that solid quality sound. The whole set feels about as light as my old Gallagher B 1/2 set. Amazing, really. The sticks all seem tightly arranged together. I’d like to compare the diameter of the main stock with other sets sometime. This one looks narrower than others I remember (which is a good thing, IMO). This one measures 2 and 3/8 inches across.
You know, I don’t ordinarily get excited about strip teases, but this … You had me going, there! Lovely, lovely.
Speaking of 3/4 sets. I have a question for youse. The bass drone turn on the new set is turned up into the baritone regulator. I had someone ask me awhile if that bothered me that it did that on my set. Not having a full set, I’m wondering if with an added bass regulator the turn of the drone is turned over onto its side under the reg? With a 3/4 it seems like the drone inevitably turns up like shown in the photo.
Just curious. Lovely looking set. Gotta love that boxwood.

On Andreas Rogge’s sets, at least, the bass drone is turned up like in the photo, even on a full set. It might be deceiving in the photo, but there’s enough room for the bass regulator there.

Thanks, it truely is a lovely set.
The bass drone is turned out in that photo, but it will rotate around so that it hides under the regs w/o being seen (looking form top).
Here’s something I haven’t seen before…the way he locks the two pieces of the bass drone together at the bend…
…lets hear it!?!
Soon as I work the bugs out of the chanter reed! It was cracked on arrival and has issues along the edges. But, it does play to a point. I got a feel for how it will sound by staying off the thumb note and high upper register notes.
