Neat website. I thought the costume section was especially well done.
For teens or adults interested in a good story along these lines—I just read a book called “Bloody Jack” by L.A. Meyer which was recommended to me by my niece. It is about a homeless girl in 18th c. London who pretends to be a boy to get a job as cabin boy on a navy ship. It is a really good book. It is recommended for teens. It has material in it that seems pretty rough for the younger members of that age group (attempted rape of a young boy [Jack in disguise] by a sailor, not successful and not graphic but intentions were clear), but I guess things have changed a lot since I was that age. The material was handled very well and right was clearly distinguished from wrong. It won prizes from some groups for being a good book for teens.
