Selling to raise hurricane money...

I have a really nice Cocobolo Eb that I’d like to use to raise some hurricane relief dollars, but I’m not sure the best way to do this. I could either sell it at a reduced price and donate the funds, have a raffle here on Chiff and Fipple and donate the proceeds, or auction it. Any thoughts?Which do you think has the potential to raise the most money for this cause?

BTW-- I normally sell these for $250, but I’d sell it for $200 for this purpose.

IMHO auction with a starting bid at your lowest price - $200 for a short period, a cople of days. Give those with a giving heart a chance to get a nice whistle for more than they might pay for it otherwise. My company matches employee donations for the hurricane victims, or I would consider bidding at a much higher price than the normal selling price. Surely there are others who have a giving heart and would like a nice whistle.

Ebay has a charity sales function where they donate their selling fee to charity (if you donate 100% of the final sale price to a member nonprofit organization). I’ve never used it personally. Here’s the link:

Since over 200 people have viewed this thread as of early Wed. EDT, I would think most of them might be willing to pony up a couple bucks for a raffle. Many of us couldn’t afford over $200 but wouldn’t mind owning one of your beautiful babies.

The winner could even donate the prize as a prize in a chain raffle!
