Seery

Hello! New member here in the market for a good Delrin Irish D flute. I’ve been looking at the selection on The Irish Flute Store, but there is one flute they do not carry that I am interested in, and that is the the Seery Delrin.

I like the four piece body design and the fact that it is tunable. Does anyone have any opinions on this flute? In terms of quality, sound, playability?

If not the Seery I like the look of the Somers too.

Thanks!

I think the delrin Seery is very nice. I loved mine (it was stolen from my car). Big Pratten-ish sound, and very nicely in tune.

I have a Somers, it’s a decent flute, bulletproof construction and good tone.

You can buy the Seery from a Dublin, Ireland dealer, or direct from the Seery workshop (also in Dublin):

I have played, owned or have many from the makers of Delrin flutes (M&E, Seery, Somers, Copley, Cochran). All are useful. I still have the last 3 & recommend them. I don’t know if Jon C. (Cochrane flutes) is still making his, but the Somers and Copley are excellent and IMHO the best value for $ as well.

Any opinions on the Galeón? Looks like a nice flute as well, I thought it sounded good on the videos I saw and I like the more squared embouchure hole.

good flutes for the price
