Rudall Rose & Carte #6069 on Instrument Exchange

Hi everyone, I just posted my circa 1855 8 key Rudall with extra Wilkes headjoint in the Used Instruments Exchange. There’s also a youtube video (sorry about the sync issues, the conversion didn’t work very well) and a set of photos on photobucket. I bought it a number of years ago from another C&F member and thought maybe someone else here might be interested, it’s an excellent flute, all the keys work and it plays easily down to low C. Thanks!

Its gorgeous, and with the Wilkes head, wow!

wow !! great price too !

nice playing dave and the flute really sounds great !

Ah, you’re the devil, Dave. Must resist temptation. La La La La La, not looking…

i know !!! i’m still not looking !

Drooling.

all flutes end up here when eBay doesn’t work.
used to be the other way around!

anyways…the catalogue shows the C&Fer who had it previously (a player) had sold it in 2007 some time after having acquired it from another in Chicago (also a player), who got it from Chris c2002…for anyone who cares to know the immediate lineage.

the catalogue also has photos of this flute through its recent history in 3 different boxes.
hard to say which is original…but two of them have “foam” in them.

hey Cornia…my records reflect you did the lipplate on the headpiece…is that accurate?

got to play this flute today ! what a great flute !!! i did not try the original head joint but the Wilkes head joint looks so natural on it and i loved the way it played, that i forgot it had another head as well. hardly had to pull the slide out for it to play in tune which is nice, it’s very responsive and has such a great tone.
i have a keyed Delrin coming from j.Gallagher or i’d jump on this offer.
also Dave is such an honest and great guy, i got a few flutes from him in the past and i can’t think of an easier person to do business with.

jon, if you did the lip plate, it’s really beautiful work !

Thanks, but I believe the l plate is on the Wilkes head joint, not my work.
