Question of all questions

…that’s not a typical question for discussion on the interned board, but why not?

What is the meaning and essence of human life?

P.S. try to be more or less serious
P.P.S. those of you who answer “42” will get some black voodoo magic!

Love.

Top that.

32-Love your ball

Depends on who you ask.

I think it’s music.

To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

Ok, maybe that’s a little over the top.

I’d go with love, actually, but I’d go with a really broad definition.

The MEANING of human life? I dunno. It’s a really difficult question. I don’t think human life is good for this world, though.

Well, that’s definitely not music. Music is not a thing in itself, it’s worth as much as it gives, but not more. It may be the answer, but only as a special case of some more broad definition.

Love (in broad definitions of the word) is somehow closer, but the same problem - is love a thing in itself, which is precious as is, without applications, or just a way/reason/motivation/etc of (doing) something else? If second, than the question remains.

Well, “meaning” may be a wrong word, you’re right.
Essence, reason, sense - what’s the right one?

Please don’t ask me to think that deep tonight… :frowning:

No particular meaning that would distinguish human life from any other type. In general though…
the energy is just sort of there going vmmmmmvmmmmmvmmm,
and it kind of wants to do something besides go vmmm, so it coalesces a bit here and there…and that begins to become interesting, because it’s now capable of finding itself interesting, you see.
So the bar is raised and it takes a little more to keep things interesting, because it’s challenging itself–“oh, you think that’s cool? try this!”
Eventually it gets to a point very much like the point V-ger (aka Voyager) reached in the first Star Trek movie, where being feels inadequate, and it longs to experience being part and parcel of the whole creative process–actively and consciously…so it does. And it finds that within the full experientialness of being that there is joy and there is pain and that the existence of one is what enables it to know the other…and that’s pretty addictive.

And that’s what it’s doing now, in all sorts of little shapes and patterns, all over the place.
But you will find that sometimes you want to forget all that, and just feel nothing but vmmmmvmmmmmvmmm.

I don’t buy that music and love are excluded because they’re nouns. You said “What is the meaning and essence of human life?” I think art and/or love could be things that give meaning to human life. They could be things that humans create in order to give their lives meaning. I also think those are pretty good answers to the question. I also also think there’s approx. one hojillion more possible answers.

For the record: I officially change my answer to INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR MEANINGFUL ANSWER.

:astonished: you have tuning issues, don’t ya :astonished:

Tee-hee. That’s dangerously close to 42.

The point of life is to experience it. Love, music, all that is
part of experiencing life. What is the essence of life? Dust.

They could be things that humans create in order to give their lives meaning.

Meaning or substitute of meaning?
Well, that brings up another good question: does the life have some general Meaning, or it’s essence is only in what we suppose it to be?

( yes, I ask questions which exceed my ability of writing in English, but I hope my posts are still understandable )

Relationship.

Yay! You’re a nerd, too!

It was written on the sidewalk, so it has to be true:

Love is the answer

The longer answer is that we are here to love each other, the funny version is that I am here to love, what you other folks are here for, I can not say.

I’m glad that there is at least one member that is a gentleman…

Jesus

The question is the answer.
