seller has several nice vinyl recordings of Irish trad including the chieftens and Leo Rowesome. I bid on the Rowesome Vol 2, but I figured that there were some nice pieces that others might appreciate here so I am willing to chance that I will be outbid.
Brilliant piping from one of the most outstanding pipers of the post-Ennis generation. I would highly recommend it. Indeed I wish NPU or someone would find a way of reissuing it as a CD so that more people could hear it.
I don’t know why. Old Topic recordings seem to be tied up in limbo somewhere. I had a tape of a tape of a tape of this album that I put on CD, but the sound was pretty crappy. I recently bought this LP on eBay from another seller - CDN $60. Not cheap but well worth it to hear it as it was meant to be heard.
Indeed he has quite the load of sweet vinyl for sale, including Ted Furey And Brendan Byrne’s Toss The Feathers LP. I believe this is the one where the liner notes explain that the tapes were recovered from rubble from a bomb explosion…
Damn! I knew I should have bought the album when I saw it in a 2nd hand record market for $5. But that was in my pre-piping days c.1989 and was more interested in 2nd hand Planxty records.
Ossian still has the Folk Music and Dances of Ireland companion CD, which has some of Pat’s piping on it. They reissued his record before too, on cassette.
