These aren’t mine, but I thought someone here might be interested. Personally, I think they are way too overpriced.
3000$???

Ridiculous, you can still buy them new, I think a low G and A are around $200 or so, I talked to him a month ago.
Ya think? I was wondering if anyone was going to post about these auctions. Thanks, TWC. At this rate, I could liquidate my little collection and replace the aging Honda!
I don’t think so.
What? No free shipping?
As been discussed before, the seller has no intention of selling them through eBay. They’re waiting for a private email, so they can be sold outside of eBay, thus saving the fee. I’m sure they’d take a much lower offer, but it’s a bit sleazy for my tastes.
I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. The price they’re asking is a bargin.
There is no doubt in my mind, that Pat is making Low G and A whistles, but if he is taking new orders, this is truly news to me. It must be one of the best kept secrets in whistledom. I own an A and a G from Pat. They are definitely not for sale…
Best.

I wonder what kind of a kick Pat must get out of all this, if he’s even tuned in to it at all. I will repeat that IMO, his mid range whistles - i.e., Bflat, A, G - are the very best in whistledom, past and present. I’m with you Byll, they’re not for sale. I got my Bflat/A set from Pat I guess a couple of years ago now, and I too thought the order list was still closed, but haven’t had contact with Pat since then and couldn’t say for sure.

Kind of makes the phrase “Penny Whistle” redundant, doesn’t it ?
Hmmmmm… or at least combined shipping if more than one is bought.
I’ve seen one poster on the here that said Mr. O’Riordan agreed to make him a whistle and know of another player who has also been assured of getting a couple of whistles from him. Perhaps he has opened up to new orders on a limited basis.
I’ve noticed the comments about folks getting new ones, too. I’ve several of his whistles, and Pat is a wonderful guy to visit with. I’d like to meet him in person sometime.
I just noticed the G is relisted with a starting bid of $1,800. Whew… what a price break!
Brings back some memories. Some years ago I was minding a friend’s table at the North American Northumbrian Pipers Convention in North Hero, VT. At the adjacent tables were Glen Schultz and Mr. O’Riordan. The next table down had Jon Swayne. Wish that I had been into whistles at that point and had some free cash. Would have been a better investment than some of my retirement portfolio…
Best wishes.
Steve
At the expense of stating an obvious truth: If Pat has truly opened up his ’ waiting list’ - which was publicly closed for so long - it has been a very successfully guarded secret. Ironclad verification of the opportunity for anyone who wishes, to again purchase a new O’Riordan whistle, will certainly put an end to these eBay price abominations.
Best.

The Johnny Appleseed Festival (Fort Wayne, IN) was 2 weeks ago, roughly (9/19). Pat generally makes a batch of whistles to sell at his booth/stand at that festival. It would be my guess that’s where the new ones are getting into circulation.
The G was lowered to 1800.00 now. I am shocked nobody grabbed it at the great deal of 3000.
