O'Riordan For Sale

I have a beautiful O’Riordan Brass Tunable High D Whistle with

Shamrocks for sale. This whistle was made in 1994 and is in perfect

condition. I purchased this whistle from Jessie Driscoll and am now

offering it for sale. This is a very sweet whistle, very easy to play,

flawless intonation across the octave. I paid Jessie $462.00 for it. I

am asking that amount plus insurance and shipping. If you are

interested please e-mail me.

Regards,

James

Does it wash your dishes for you? :boggle:

Wash dishes? I’m thinking, Does it bring in a paycheck?

Well, look on the bright side…if you buy this whistle, at least you won’t spend two years waiting for your name to come up on the builder’s waiting list!

Considering that the builder isn’t taking any names for his waiting list, second hand sales are the only way some people will get one of these.

I’ve seen single O’Riordans go as high as 600 on ebay, so this is a decent price as far as it goes.

What do you mean, brass? Is this a brass generation-style body with an O’Riordan head? Or is it a Traveller or Concert model with brass trimming?

To answer Colomon’s question. The whistle is of the first type. Brass

Gen type tube which is highly polished and a heavier guage. Standard

O’Riordan mouthpiece, shamrocks of the upper portion of the tuning

slide.

Jim

It has a highly polished (well, it WAS highly polished at one time) brass Doolin whistle tube. This mouthpiece is different from his more recent ones in that the bottom part that goes over the tube is, indeed, brass, not delrin.

The tube IS highly polished. This was the first thing I did to this whistle

when I received it. The whistle really does have a very pure, sweet

tone. Only one like it I have ever seen. The tube itself is very smooth.

There are no turning marks on it. If anyone has any more questions

about this whistle, send me your phone number. I will call you and we

can discuss it privately.

Jim

Yes, it is a delightful little whistle with nice balance between octaves.

If it is anything like my Traveler High D it will give you goose bumps the first time you play it.

I don’t have one of these, and have very little experience on them. However, most of the great whistle players I know who use O’Riordans actually prefer this style O’Riordan over the Traveller or the Concert D. That’s as in, have (or at least had) both, prefer the Generation-style body model for the keys of D and Eb. (I don’t recall what, if anything, Pat actually calls these.)

I never owned one of these, but I played one once and it was killer.

Whistle is SOLD. Thanks to all of you who inquired.

Regards,

James

Good for James and for whoever bought this. Sounds like a great whistle.

 for the rest of us.

Someday.
