It’s up on Ebay now:

Good luck to the bidders!

Loren

Looking at his feedback, he has sold some lovely instruments.

Even a person like myself who isn’t real sure what either chiff or whiffle means can tell.

Hey Loren are you selling the stand in the picture?

Not planning to at the moment, but if I sell off any more whistles I might as well!

Loren

well, let me know if you do, because I might be interested. =)

[bold]F[/bold]ipple, Jane. . .that’s the thing that goes in your mouth…

but no one really knows what chiff is except the Cry^% &êop-----le

And forget his eBay comments. . .Loren is Lord High Poster on this board. . .we all have a really good idea of the quality of his whistles, and general reliablity to deliver da goods.

Are you thinking of bidding on the whistle? I hear its a real beaut!

I could never in this and another lifetime do that lovely instrument justice. The best I can do is drone along at the bottom. Best of luck to you on it!

oooOOOOOooooOoOOO!

What I wouldn’t give to own that whistle…!

You know, I was wondering…How many of Loren and Bloomfield’s posts were just on the whistle board, and not in one of the other forums? I’m merely curious, this has nothing to do with my being third on the list…

Better get yerself a flute, and some pipes then and start posting girl!!!

Actually, I don’t post on the pipe board, and only very rarely on Clips and Snips board (and only then to harass Higgins), so there’s still hope for you number 3

Loren

Loren - Your O’Riordan looks remarkably similar to one of Fred Rose’s blackwoods. How does it compare where playing is concerned?

Ha! I didn’t want to say anything… BUT, no way Loren is No. 1 in reality. He has been all over the flute forum, and all of those posts don’t count, of course. I have, I think, two posts in the uillean pipe forum, the rest are all pure and true whistle posts.

I believe you, aventuria, that your bringing this up has nothing to do with your ranking. After all, no matter what, you’d still be no. 3.

Loren, are you going to let us in on what your reserve is???

Starr

Nick,

To my knowledge Pat O’Riordan has been making whistles far longer than Fred Rose, so if anyone’s whistle looks similar to another, it would be Fred’s looking similar to Mr. O’Riordans.

Having said that, they really look nothing alike when viewed side by side, except for both being made from Blackwood. The O’Riordan is purely cylindrical in shape, rather than the Rose’s somewhat conical appearance. The O’Riordan is also a more substantial whistle in terms of size and weight - It’s the most “Heavy Duty” of any wooden whistle I’ve ever seen.

There are other significant differences, but suffice it to say: Of all the wooden whistles I’ve ever played, the Rose and O’Riordan are by far the two most dissimilar I’ve run across.

Bloomfield,

Your true colors are showing - you really DO care about this whole “Top poster” nonsense  Well, in that case, get real dude, I’ve been around here for YEARS longer than you. So quit yer whinin’ number 2, and go fetch my slippers like a good underling

Loren

Sorry Starr, no giving away the Reserve price - that takes away half the fun of the game!

Yes, my Master, right away, my Master.

Do you want your warm milk now or after you torture the prisoners… I mean, practice your Olwell?

Well yes, practicing on the Olwell IS torturing the prisoner’s at this point, isn’t it

I don’t care much about the neighbors any more, but I do feel bad for my my poor dog… :frowning:

Loren

Group hug for the poor dogs out there!

Hi Loren

I appreciate that the Rose and O’Riordan are dissimilar, but how do they compare? I mean, the Rose: clear tone, very little chiff, easy across both octaves; and the O’Riordan…?

The Abell I played for example was harder work and more chiffy than the Rose
