“This Uilleann Bagpipe Chanter (also known as the “irish pipes” or “Union Pipes”) is not your standard concert D. This is a ‘flat D’, which means it’s narrow bore like a flat set, but it is in “D” instead of the traditional C and B of most flat sets. This gives it a different and more subdued tonality, and a more traditional feel. This is a unique item made by but a few Uilleann pipemakers. This particular one is by Ray Sloan, an Irishman living in Northumbria, England, who is a world-known maker of smallpipes, borderpipes, northumbrian pipes, and uilleann pipes. This Particular chanter is keyless and comes with two reeds. Chanter sells new for $1150 in USD, 600 UK pounds. Item is in great shape and plays wonderfully. No marks, cracks, or scrapes. The chanter is only one year old. Note this auction is for the chanter only, not for a bag or bellows. Chanter is of African Blackwood with cane reeds.”
