Newbie update

Well due to school being insane at exams i have been away a while so first off thanx to all the people who offerd me help in getting some pipes. So in about a 3 week span after I made the choice to start Uilleann pipes I just got a set. A used Joe Kennedy half set, that arrived yesterday, now i think i have the 4th set in the provence. :boggle:
The set came with “New approch to Uillean Pipeing” and after a hour or two i can do the full scale up to the 3rd d and back down. These things are much more fun then GHP
So any advise?
I will pick up those videos, cant remember their name but i do have the link soemwhere.
There are no pipers here (as in non within a 6 hour drive in any direction as far as I know) other then my friend who has played for about a year who learned on his own.
I’ll be learking around so keep up the good posts.

I’m not too sure about your UP count in Alberta. I’m sure I’ve seen at least a couple more on this board. Who knows, you guys might all live around the corner from each other. Enjoy!

advice? always.
get the video. learn from the clarke tutor and the videos in tandam. you should start practicing the first tune on the video right off the bat since you are off to a strong start.
the second tune in the video shows up in lesson 7 in charke, so when you get there, stop and learn that tune on the video. then do a little of this and a little of that, spending time with both tutors. they really compliment each other very well.

Schultz1981,
When you get up to speed on those pipes, you must take them up to the lake (Loiuse) shore and let their echo off the cliffs and glaciers resound with their sweetness! I was there a year ago, and all I could think about when hiking around it was how great it would be to sit here with my pipes.
