New Whistler Making Whistles.

Hi everyone! I just got my first whistle, a Clarke Celtic Sweetone in the mail a couple days ago and I am really enjoying my new past time. Being an acoustic guitar builder and not having much patience for the postal service I decided to try my hand at making a whistle using the PVC method I found on the forums. I was really happy with the results and actually enjoy the tone and playability more so than the Sweetone. I can definitely see how its not the whistle but the player that makes the difference. I also built a low D out of PVC and love the sound but it will take a while to get the hang of a pipers grip. I think I have gone whistle crazy because I cant get whistle making out of my head and with the cost of most whistles being so low I know I will buy several more. At least they are smaller than guitars. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to all!

Welcome to the world of whistles and to the C&F whistle forum. It sounds like you’ve just jumped right into the deep end feet first. I hope you enjoy the swim. And yes you can fit quite a few whistles in the guitar case (if you are careful).

Cool, good luck in your endeavor.

Nice to see a newbie so enthusiastic! Welcome-- you’re in for a ton of fun.

Building whistles so soon? Impressive.

Whistles vary in tone over a wide range and I would rank the Sweetone at one extreme. Frankly, I am not surprised that you like the sound of your own whistle better.

Hi Mad Martigan,

GO for it!

The “Way of the Tin Leprechaun” is not an easy path - but the rewards are well worth the trip .. no, not money .. better stuff! The best part about it all is that it never ends!

It’s a good road

Keep us posted!

Too right. But my soft padded guitar case has several large pockets stuffed full of my ever increasing whistle collection (13 and rising*. I must get a new one soon. 13 is very unlucky  ). I have a very bad case of WhOA at the moment. :astonished:

And welcome Mad Martigan.
