New Whistle

Hullo! I am a (fairly) new penny/tin whistle player (I’ve been playing for about 6 months). I origionally purchased a green painted Clarke tin whistle with a plastic head (Their Celtic whistle). I am thinking of getting another one (of Clarkes) with all tin and a wooden fipple, the original in “D”. I was looking for a second opinion on this because I don’t want to buy a dud.

Hi, welcome. Nothing wrong with the Clarke original. It’s a sweet, rather quiet, somewhat breathy whistle. Many people squash the windway a bit flatter to give a more focused sound and smaller breath requirement.

Hello and Welcome.
There are many fine whistles for beginners, and the original Clark is one.
If you had any interest in others do a search, the topic comes up often.

What kind of music do you most enjoy playing?

Thanks all! I also play the flute so breath shouldn’t be a problem!
maki, I most enjoy playing traditional peices like jigs and hornpipes (my favourite being the Belfast hornpipe!) but I enjoy playing pretty much any kind of music
