I’ve just got to post again . . . your stuff is GREAT. Really great.

And I want to address a comment I read, just to disagree with it. Heh. Someone mentioned that the tunes were too “chromatic” and therefore didn’t sound pure-drop. Or traditional, or whatever.

To that, sir, I say, hogwash. Jig 01, for a ferinstance, since I like it. Sounds, to me, more like a very deft fusion of a breakneck jig and a barndance. As though it were arranged by Ó Carolan. I think it sounds quite Irish.

So, keep it up, Tom, it’s great stuff.

I think Tom should wrangle some kind of endorsement deal for keyed flutes.

X Brand Keyed Flutes as played by Tom McElvogue. Our keys are the key to any key..

Whether or not the chromatic tunes are “traditional” it’s good to hear somebody acually use the keys. I think too many folks pour a lot of money into keyed flutes only to play a handful of chromatic tunes (if any). Hopefully Tom’s tunes will encourage folks to full advantage of those flutes.

Cheers,
Aaron

Or to play NO chromatic tunes. Or to half-hole.
