It struck me that a surprising number of mid-1960s US television series had Mixolydian opening theme tunes.
Not only do you know that flat 7th is coming, you know exactly when it’s coming! (The big fat flat 7th has an obvious setup.)
These themes are so similar that I thought they must be the work of a single composer but no, they’re all by different composers.
Here’s a sampling, I’ll put them into ABC for ease of typing, and all in the key of G for easy reading. (In ABC “=” stands for a “natural” accidental.)
