Lunasa Lastnight 3/18/05

I had been waiting to see these guys for about 5 months or so. I ordered tickets (just $15 each)to the soldout show and was forth row center. We were in the smaller area of the hall which seats maybe 350. The trip would be a three hour tour.

These boys were in great form (during the first song, tears began to form in my eyes it was so moving), I was really curious to see just how good they were outside a studio and I was blown away. Every tune was right on and the showmanship was fantastic. You can tell that these guys although do it for a living money, these guys performed for the sake of the music and give something back to the fans for their support.

After the show (almost 3 hours), they lined up promptly for pictures and autographs. It wasn’t a here you are and thanks for coming, now please move along, but a genuine we appreciate you as fans. They took the time to actually have a conversation with us.

I took my wife because for years I have attempted to get her into the deep spirit of celtic music (shes more of a NSYNC type). She was prepared to be bored to tears and for the headache. She took a book and tylenol. After two tunes, she placed the book in her purse and I didn’t see her take any tylenol. But more than this I believe I saw her foot tapping the floor. Afterwords she told me she was really glad that she went and that all though not totally converted yet, she loved the show.

Anyway…I just wanted to share my experience and I hope that if you get the chance to see this wonderful group of guys perform, you jump on it.

It’s been about two years since I’ve seen them and it’s good to
hear they are still at. My experience was much like KD’s and they
are wonderful musicians and performers and also a really good
bunch of guys. Where was the show and did they play
“The Last Pint”? That’s the one tune that really, really got to me.

It was in St. Louis, MO and the “Last Pint” was indeed played and enjoyed by all.

I got a chance to see them in Keene, New Hampshire on 3/11/05.
I was blown away. Maybe the best show I’ve seen. Does anyone know what low whistles they were playing? There were a few songs were three of them were playing low whistles. I thought they were low d but i’m not sure.
