Low G recommendations

I’m looking for a low G whistle under or around $100 (new or used). This would be a whistle just for casual playing on my own and to begin exploring other keys. So far I’ve come up with the following list in the >$100 price range:

Dixon Trad Alto Low G (aluminum body)
Dixon Trad Alto Low G (brass body)
Dixon DX007G Alto Low G (ABS)
Susato Kildare
Susato Dublin

Any others come to mind, and any you’d particularly recommend?

Keep your eyes open for a PVC Water Weasel by the late great Glenn Schultz. I have one and it’s one of the best whistles I’ve ever played-- any material, any maker, any key.

Thanks Paul, I’ll keep an eye out for one of Glenn’s Water Weasels in G.
Much appreciated,
Stephen

Freeman Low G

I just received my brass Trad Dixon G two weeks ago. I like it very much…light in your hands, nice sounding instrument. I have a Susato G, but I tend to struggle with it. The Dixon is easier to play, at least for me. By the way I also have a Freeman Low A which is really a fine instrument.

I own the brass Dixon Trad and the DX007G. I like the brass a lot better than the ABS–in fact, I never meant to buy the ABS but it was shipped to me instead of the brass by accident, and I decided to just keep it. Later when I bought a Trad, I was kicking myself for not exchanging for it right away! My trad has overall better tone and far less squeaking. It also will take more breath support without jumping octaves, which is nice.

I didn’t realize Jerry F. made/tweaked whistles in lower keys. Certainly worth considering.
As for the Dixons, has anyone compared the brass Trad (DXTRAD) with the alloy model (DX107G)? I tend to think of brass having a ‘warmer’ sound than aluminum alloy, though I’m not sure if that notion holds true for all makes/models. As they say, YMMV.

They say the difference in sound between the brass and nickel is only in the mind. Others say nickel is brighter and brass is warmer. For me, the brass gives me a better grip, particularly in the low G zone.
