Alright folks!
Just about punted my 1977 Fender jazz bass, so im going to splash out on that F flute iv been looking and longing for! Seen G Leharts ‘F’ flute and im pretty sold on one!
Been on his website and l cant get my head around the price list even in the english translation. Can anyone help me out? Also are his contact details correct? Iv e-mailed a couple of days ago but im sure he is a flute man like most flute makers are!
Im looking for the rough waiting times and prices for both keyless and a keyed (3 keys) flute in F. And if i have enough cash i think i will splash out on a keyless Bb!! (price for that would be great to if anyone knows??)
Sorry for all the questions! Just cant wait to sort y cash so i can call Gilles and place my order and deposit!

p.s. lehart speak english so you could give him a call for more information…
Hi Chris. I’ve ordered both a 6-key D flute and a keyless C flute from Lehart. I dearly love them both! I ordered the D flute around the beginning of November of last year and had it by mid-December. A ridiculously short wait time for a keyed flute! I ordered the C flute in February of this year and received it by the end of May. Pretty good! I e-mailed Gilles quite a few times and he always responded in a timely manner. I didn’t have to pay any deposit, just had to pay in full before he would ship it out, natch. He’s great to do business with. I’d love to have one of his F flutes!
Thats great guys! Thanks very much! Iv not got an email back yet so i will give him a call tonight and sort out my order!
Watch this space!
Chris!
The Lehart Bb flute is my personal favourite among all the Bb flutes I tried so far. But watch out, the finger stretching required is quite huge!
How does the fingers strech compare to say a Tipple Bb flute? Its the only other Bb flute i have tryed…the stretch on that is massive!
Can anyone shed any light please?
Chris!
The stretch’s a bit less than on a Tipple Bnat I’d say. I have one (Tipple) and found the Leharts I tried a bit easier to play, but the stretch involved is still huge!
well, garbiel i also have tipple b flat and found it very hard to play, although i am very tall (1,95m) and have big hands.so, it scary me if you said that strech of lehart is slightly smaller, because i intend in future to place order for lehart bflat of c…
so,tiff could you comment your c flute, because it must be easyer to play…?
marin
Marin, I imagine the Lehart C is loads easier to play than his Bb! I’ve never tried a Bb flute but I’m very sure I wouldn’t be able to make it work. I have very short fingers but I don’t have any problem whatsoever with Lehart’s C flute. It’s a very easy reach, a very, very slight difference from his D flutes, only in the top three fingers but it’s not enough to make a difference for me. The hole sizes on the C don’t seem any bigger to me. My C flute is keyless so I can’t comment on how the reach for the keys are but I am very satisfied with it. If I can make it work with my short fingers then you should have absolutely no problem.
Hope that’s helpful!
*Edited to say that I use piper’s grip when I play so I don’t know if that makes a difference to you or not. That seems to be the only way I can get a flute to work!
Thats the order in guys!! hopefully in 3 months time i will have my 3 keyed ‘F’ LeHart flute! Cant wait!!
Gilles spoke very good english and is very good to deal with!
(now to talk myself into that Bb as well!!)
Ceri Rhys Matthews (of Fernhill etc.) has a Lehart F that I have had goes on - and it is a very nice player. Personally I don’t find Lehart’s trade-mark visual style, especially his keys, attractive, but that is not of huge relevance compared to playability. His flutes are certainly that. Jean-Michel Veillon played mostly Leharts for many years, and still plays (I believe) his Lehart F and the special one in the strange Breton scale…
