I got my Thin Weasel A today!

I know that everyone knows about Tin Weasels…especially since Glenn Shultz has passed on. But, I had to share my happiness. This will be my whistle of choice for a long time to come. Not only is it the most well-made instrument I’ve ever seen, it’s also the best player. It’s got a great tone and proper amount of chiff(not even close to a recorder like my Sweet D can sometimes be). The shift between octaves is effortless and smooth and it loves to be played in whatever style or speed I choose. I now know why other makers studied with Glenn…he was truly a master of his craft. Money well spent on an investment that will bring me joy for years to come! Patrick at www.irishflutestore.com has my everlasting thanks and a promise to do business with him again in the future.

P.S. I now understand why people who own these usually don’t sell them!!!

Your a very lucky guy Jason, those are hard to come by. (Hard to pay for too) The little music store by my house still has a few Water Weasels and one Thin Weasel in stock. I got my Water Weasel D from them and I’m considering adding a few more, maybe an A. Slightly less cool than a Thin Weasel A, but still pretty cool I’d say.

I was lucky enough to get a Water Weasel Mezzo G… what a wonderful whistle!!!

I have Water Weasels in A and Eb, both are very nice. I have tryed his Flutes and a Bb Thin Weasel and they are also great.

Those would be my flute and Bb, which Unseen played at the Northeast gathering. The Bb is my absolute alltime favorite whistle, and it’s really hard to describe why. Every note from top to bottom is rock solid and warm sounding, and I can play each note with a rather wide range of volume which makes this whistle remarkably expressive-- especially in slower tunes I feel that I can mold each note to exactly what I want it to sound like. Amazing.

For a long time the only whistle I owned was a Water Weasel in D. It’s still the only one I play in public.
