I’m about an hour early, but since it’s already his birthday his time…
I know he’s on a prolonged “leave of absence” or something, but I figured it would be nice for everyone here to send him some birthday wishes anyway, just in case he lurks from time to time, unbeknownst to us…or for when he does come back to the Chiff. I’m sure he’d appreciate it
So, happy birthday, D! I hope it’s a good one…it being a big one and all that
HA! I sent that tune to him in an email (telling him about the thread here). It’s a tradition at our house to play it at every birthday. Since the bulk of our birthdays are in January and February, by the time we get to mine in March, I’m pretty darn tired of listening to it
They may drink their beer a room temperature down under, but most of us northern folk prefer our beer ice cold. So, waiter (Guess that would be Dale), make it beer on the rocks for everyone around the C & F table. Happy birthday, Dubh.
I said to a friend last night, “Good to see you!”, whereupon his reply was, “It’s good to be seen.” A poignant comment on one’s daily all-the-more-looming mortality, thought I.
Then there was the time a young lady in a bar was celebrating her birthday and, accosting me, demanded I should guess what her age was. “Somewhere between 24 and death”, said I. Got the “24” bit in one, too.
Greetings, and many thanks for the fond words. I just checked my mail today for the first time in over a week - I have been resting up after a week in Paris during a city wide strike of the public transport system. Did a lot more walking than we had planned for but also found some nice little places off the beaten track.
I was highly amused to find that some of the faithful were surprised to learn I was this old! If the truth were known, I was quite surprised myself when it all dawned on me that this was the big Hawaii…Five - O.
Back to my hibernating..see y’all in the Spring.
Slan,
D.
