As promised, here’s the update.
I had a wonderful visit with Glenn (yes, his name does have 2 "n"s) yesterday at his Oxford, Michigan home/weasel factory.
Despite ongoing struggles with back & heart related problems, he is working full time at the (his words following) GM Testicle Plant.
His excellent backyard workshop has been upgraded, and he continues to make whistles with passion. His 2 dogs are well. I saw 18 cocus/snakewood/otherexotic wood D whistles in the midst of their 30-60 day curing period, bunches of PVC G’s & A’s in stages of construction, and other assorted whistles. When I had arrived, Glenn was giving a last tune testing of a gorgeous wooden Bb and wooden High G that were going out in the post that afternoon (Whoever bought that wooden Bb, you are a lucky person indeed, the sound is breathtaking). … Magnificent is the only word I can think of to describe the special project he has started…9 D Flutes in exotic woods from Honduran light woods to african blackwoods. They’ve been cut and special wood treating has begun. He tells me he is dedicating himself to spare no expense or effort in creating in this limited edition of 9 Flutes (I don’t know the significance of why 9) the very best musical experience that his talents permit.
Glenn was very touched by all your hellos and kind words that I had printed from different threads. Glenn asked me to reply that he hopes each of you receive as much pleasure from playing his whistles as the pleasure he received in making them for you.
Glenn is very appreciative of the growing support of Sales outlets for his whistles, but he welcomes any C&Fer to contact him directly at http://www.thinweasel.com in order to obtain a whistle or flute or discuss any specific requirements or concerns. Glenn has recently specially modified a whistle for a person with limited breathing ability so she could enjoy playing music. I’m proud to be a friend of his, and was glad to be able to extend all your good wishes to him.
Thanks for the update Bob.
It’s good to get a “first hand” report, Bob! I catch him on the fly once in awhile but that isn’t very satisfactory. Gm
Thank you, Bob.
Schultz flute…slaver…drool.
Thanks, Bob, for the first hand information. And I think, I’m the “lucky person”, who’s getting the Bb and the High G. The waiting’s even harder (and sweeter) now.

As an owner of one of Glenn’s flutes, I can tell you that they are terrific. I have a D in Cocobolo that I got about a year ago, and absolutely love. Sold my old Sweetheart and several other instruments to raise the $$$. These are made with all the care and craftsmanship that you would expect from Glenn, and then some. They are made in several sections, with tapered bore, corked joints, tuning slide etc, and include a typical Weasel mahogany case. If you are at all in the market for a wooden flute, give these a try.
Does Glenn make wooden low Ds? They’re not on his site, and unfortunately the URL link doesn’t work from my PC to contact him; thanks someone
I specifically asked Glenn on saturday whether he makes or has made a Low D Whistle, and he said he does not. Low F currently is his lowest keyed whistle.
Soory the URL is not working for you. I just tested it, and it works for me. But, Glenn said I could post his phone number for telephone inquiries.
Glenn Schultz (sorry for my typo of his surname in the subject line) cell phone is 248-872-3854
