Just in case anyone is interested, here are the rules for the GFM whistle tour:
How it works:
I will ship the instruments to the first person in the list at my expense and that person will ship the instrument to the next person and pay the postage and so on. People are required to send an email to me (or the tour manager) both when the instrument arrives and when you send it so I (we) can answer other people’s questions. The last person in the list ships the whistle back to me.
Who to ship to:
I will send another (final) itinerary out just before I ship the instruments. Each person is expected to contact the next person in line to make sure that they have the correct shipping address. I will help with this, if I need to. In the event that the next person cannot be contacted, then they will be skipped and put at the end of the list. If they cannot be contacted when it is their turn again, then they will be dropped. I think it is reasonable to ask that if you are going to be out of touch for a while to let someone know if possible.
Use common sense:
Please be kind to the people after you in the list. If the instrument is lost or destroyed, let me know immediately, so something can be done. If I have to make a judgment call over some aspect of the rules or some unforeseen aspect of the tour, I will do my best to use what little sense I may have… <>
Shipping:
Use the packing tube and materials supplied to ship the whistle to the next person. I may attempt to put pre-printed labels in the tubes to make it easier, but I suspect that they will not take much handling. If anyone has an objection to having their address exposed to the others in this manner, then let me know and I will not do it. I expect that most people will use the cheapest method to ship. If you want to make other arrangements, arrange it with the person shipping the package. I have no control over that, nor do
I want to.
Personal emergencies and such:
If some problem happens and you will not have time to deal with the overhead of the tour, such as actually playing the whistle, posting, and then shipping it to the next person, then let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. You can easily have a later position in the list if you want it.
Buying the instrument:
If you love it and you want to buy the whistle, that is GREAT! The normal price is $59.95. I will sell them to people on this tour for $45 US. However, I will only accept PayPal for payment. I really don’t have a way to deposit checks and I have no way to deal with credit cards except through PayPal.
Post your impressions:
You are not really required to post your impressions at Chiff and Fipple. However, it is strongly encouraged. If you would rather post on the green site (gaeliccrossings.com) that is OK. However, I would prefer a double post in that case, if it is not to much of a hassle. The minimum requirement is that you email me and let me know what you think. Also, I insist that I be kept up to date as to where the instrument is. That is not because I want to control it so much as I want to be able to answer question in a timely fashion.
